How to sync catalogs between computers?
Problem description:
- On the road I use a MBP and I already edit as much I can do.
- Back at home I move all images I do no longer need on the MBP to my iMac.
- Copying the files is an easy thing, but: The iMac has its own catalog, knowing nothing of the edits I did on the road on my MBP. Also knowing nothing of the keywords and all the rest of the metadata.
The big question:
- Is there an official, elegant way to synchronise Catalogs between different computers?
- I'd rather prefer to work with Catalogs than Sessions, but please don't discontinue Sessions, in some situations they are much more convenient than Catalogs.
I really appreciate any help on this.
Best regards,
Roland

I know you said that you'd prefer to work in catalogs, but it seems to me that the best way would be to use sessions on the MBP, then when you no longer need them transfer them to the iMac and import them (or the keepers from them) into the catalog on the iMac. That works for me, at any rate. Edits get brought in (as long as you tick the right box).

I would say Ian's suggestion of using a session on your MBP (because a session is kind of self-contained) is the best option, but remember that you can import a catalogue into your iMac catalogue.
Then, provided you copy the entire file structure of your images across from the Macbook to the iMac, it would be a simple process to Locate your "missing" files from within the iMac catalogue.

Hi Roland,
there are a few ways to do it.
Best practice: Use sessions for the road! Then copy the whole session folder (if not already) to an external SSD. At home connect the SSD to the computer. In Capture One point the file location from the import dialog to session folder (check include subfolders). Select the desired pictures - import. Capture one "knows" that they are edited and applies the edits.
Or, You use export pictures as catalog and import this catalog into your main catalog.
Maybe this Video could help? https://learn.captureone.com/webinars/mobile-session-workflow/

Hello,
I know it has been a 2-year-old post but I am facing the same issue. Does anyone find a good solution? Please don't bring using "sessions" because this is not relevant if you're dealing with multiple projects and a huge amount of photos.....
