Apply to new layer not working

Permanently deleted user

All of my styles except two allow me to right click and say "apply to layer" (allowing you to change the opacity of a specific style).  Howcome two of my styles don't allow me to do this?

    Not every tool works in a layer.   Create a layer and take a look at the available tool panels.   Most will have a little brush icon next to the name of the tool.   Those that don't, vignetting for example, only work on the background.  Ditto the crop and black&white tool, etc.

    Given that my guess is the styles that won't apply to a layer use one of the tools that only apply to the background.
