Workspace/tabs: add a "compact" display option in order to be able to display more tools in one tab

Especially on a laptop with not a lot of real estate, I find it would be great to be able to display more tools in the same tab. I know there's the option to scroll but that's not as practical as seeing everything at once.
Maybe put a "compact" (and "large" while you're at it ;-)) option where characters size/vertical spacing would be shrinked (respectively increased) in order to achieve that?
