Catalog failed basic checks

Have you already tried the Verification with repair process?

If so, and seeing that you get the failures on the backups as well, it sounds like the problem may have been around for a while.

Have you recently upgraded from an older version?

Is this an old catalogue from a previous version and has it been updated previously?

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

I have tried the verify and repair and I just get:

    Failed to connect with database

    /Users/simonhayward/Capture One Catalogs/Personal 2002 - 2018.cocatalog/Personal 2002 - 2018.cocatalogdb

    Database connection FAILED

The requested document type is not recognized.

The provided database is of an unknown type.

The last time I opened the catalog was in March (that's the last backup I have anyway) and I know I haven't updated since then.

    Thanks again

The database (.cocatalogdb) is SQLite3 file. In your case I would try to open it in sqlite3 (a command line tool) just to get the "raw" or "real" error codes and seek advice in the SQLite community. There is also a graphical tool called db browser or similar, but I do not know it.

I think SQLite users, application programmers of course, but also those indirectly using SQLite via an application like C1, should read about how to corrupt an SQLite database to get at least some understanding of the issues: https://www.sqlite.org/howtocorrupt.html

    Hi everyone

Thanks for your replies. Really appreciated.

So, I managed to get a catalog from a time machine backup to work. However, for some reason, I seem to have lost all my edits!?

    Any reason for this?

    Thanks

Probably :-) but I can't tell, I don't use a Mac so I don't know the first thing about Time Machine. The simple guess is that the backup copy was made prior to edits.

Edited: inserted "know" to make more sense

    Simon,

Are these catalogues quite old? Maybe created with a much earlier version of C1 and not updated over time to new releases?

Just a random thought there - no idea where your answer might take us.

I would suggest that, if you have not already done so, you use the "Submit a request" function and seek advice from the Capture One Support team as well as whatever ideas come from the forum post.
