tools not available

hi

i am working with c1 11 pro sony software on my imac os 10.14 computer. suddenly the basic characteristics, curves tool, only has 2 options- auto & linear response- instead of the usual 6. and it appears that linear response doesn't work when chosen.  in addition, there are no lens profiles. the entire option is grayed out.

ive had capture 1, 11 sony pro for over 2 years. this is the first time ive had any problem with it. can someone please advise me how to fix this problem?
