Keywords
I've been not using Capture One for a few months but keeping it updated. For whatever reason most of my keywords have been removed from my photographs. I tried reloading an older backup but no change. This is a ton of work lost. Any ideas?

Rick,
Catalog or session?
If catalog, the keywords and all edits should be in the catalog database.
If session, the keywords and all edits should be in sidecar files.
Have you just lost the keywords or have you also lost the edits?
How have you ascertained that the KWs are lost?
Bear in mind that whilst you may have pre-defined keyword libraries installed, C1 will dynamically generate a list of KWs from available files and their associated data.
Did you add the KWs within C1 or were they added outside C1 but using shared sidecar files for loading the KWs?

Thanks for the quick response. Keywords added in C1. Edits appear to be gone also.

Catalog or session? (Or both?)

Also, how are you selecting the file (Catalog or Session) to be open?
Form a "Recent" link, from a desktop Icon or by navigating to it in the file system? Or something else?

Hi again. Always Catalogs. Selection from link or "Recent". It could all be my fault. I did move the entire folders to 2 other drives at one time. That did seem fine though at that time.

If you moved things using facilities in Capture One the changes should have updated the internal references and, in all cases I can think of and assuming you have not moved stuff to anywhere that is not currently accessible, I would expect things to be OK. If that is what you did and things are not OK then I would suggest you try the "Verification" tool to see what it reports as a starting point.
If you moved the folders using tools outside of Capture One, C1 will not know where things have gone. So you are likely seeing the internal (to the catalog) Thumbnails and Previews that represent the based conversion before your edit instructions are applied. Nothing more.
Rediscovering the folders with the edit instructions (etc.) and putting them where C1 expects to find them would likely resolve the problem.
I could tell you what to look for if it was a session problem.
I'm less familiar with Catalogs although the principles are quite similar I believe.
Perhaps a regular Catalog user will be able to chime in at this point and help out based on their knowledge and experience.
Or you could use the "Submit a request" facility at the top of the page and seek assistance from the Capture One support team.

Hi again,
I copied my folders back to their oiriginal location but still nothing. Also checked the database which said it was ok. At this point, I'm going to put this on the shelf for now. Just need a break from it. I want to thank you for all your time and hard work. I will probably try the other options at some point
Thanks again.

Seems strange Rick.
Other than a restart or maybe a system reboot the only other option I can think of would be to take a look at the log files. But unless you feel comfortable interpreting log files that may not get you far.
Maybe another Catalog user has some similar experiences to share?

I'm not sure what log files you refer too but that's ok. Re-boot has been done several times since this started. Either way... I'll take a break from this now. It is painful to lose data to almost 7000 files though. Thanks again for all your help.

Rick,
2 things. Catalogues should normally backup themselves - as long as you are not cancelling this. So if you do have backups, restoring might be a way.
Beside that, i would suggest to open a support ticket. I do assume some sort of user error right now, but if you hit a real bug, than you should report that. Regardless, support might be able to help you get your data back.

Hi Frank. Thanks for your response. As I said in the previous comment, "I'll take a break from this now." I will check into it at a later date. All the best.
