Eject and Erase on Import

I've noticed different behavior with my CFexpress cards as well. I'm using a Sony Tough with a ProGrade reader, Mac Pro andor MacBook Pro running Mojave. Unlike CF and SD cards, the CFexpress isn't ejected after import. I wonder whether it's a C1 issue or a macOS one. I've seen various card reader/macOS issues in the past, related to which specific reader I'm using.

That said, I never never never erase or delete images from a card using the computer. My workflow is to import the images in C1, cull (if I didn't do it during import), and then backup the images. After the images are safely on at least 2 different SSDs I erase the card in the camera. Even though all of my cameras are fairly recent and from the same manufacturer, I invariably erase my cards in the camera they'll be used in. If I move a card to a different camera, I'll erase it in that camera. That way I don't have to worry about either the computer formatting the card in a way that messes things up in the camera, or a camera's formatting being even slightly different from another camera.

You've probably thought about where to erase before, but I'd suggest that you revisit the subject and consider always erasing in the camera.

I'm finding that with a CFExpress card, it doesn't even open the importer when I insert the card, like it does for an SD card or an XQD card. I have to manually go to the import dialog and navigate to the card. I suppose it may be a feature of the card reader rather than of Capture One. Or it may be a feature of CFExpress cards. MacOS displays the CFExpress card differently too, like this. I don't know whether the different colour of the icons signifies anything.

(And I agree that I would never check the erase option. The eject option would be useful, but even with SD and XQD cards, recently that intermittently doesn't work.)

Addition to the discussion: this seems to be more than a Capture One problem - it has to do with both Windows and MacOS seeing the CF Express card as a drive not as a memory card. People are finding it an issue in Adobe software too, as this thread shows.
