Several possible ways.
(1) Is there anything you can delete? Perhaps apps you no longer need? Or photos you no longer want, or downloaded movies (they can take a lot of space)?
(2) Can you attach some external storage to the Mac, such as an external HDD or SSD, and move some content from the commuter to the external drive?
Once you have made enough space for Capture One to open happily again you could do some housekeeping on it, such as
(a) empty the session or catalog trash
(b) delete some images
(c) move some of the content to an external drive - you could move some folders of images to the external drive. As long as you do it using the Capture One Library tool, not by using Finder, Capture One will be able to keep track of the images, and their adjustments.
I used to have a MacBook Pro with rather limited SSD space, and I had to be very disciplined about deleting images - I take a lot of nature photos. So if, for instance, I had taken 30 photos of the same bird and selected the best 2 or 3 to keep, then realistically I did not need to keep the other 27 or 28 "just in case".

This sounds like a Mac issue more than a Capture One issue. Apple has a page on freeing up storage on your Mac ==> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206996
