fuji xt3 tethering slow (C1 v21)

When tethering with C1 (21) from XT3 (USB3 to USB3) it takes 8-10 seconds for an image to transfer but with a canon 5D2 (USB2 to USB3) it's about 3 seconds.

If I tether into fuji's xAquire with the same camera and settings a file transfer takes 2-3 seconds (as expected).  It appears the issue is with C1.  Any ideas of what can I do to improve the speed in C1?

    I am on a 2015 MBP with C1 (21 14.4.1.16) and a XT-3 as well.

    Interesting is, sometimes it's 2-3 seconds, sometims up to 20. All with the same cable, in the same session without reconnecting or power cycling the camera.

    Just realised: after hanging for longer than 20 seconds, the image arrives just the moment I switch off the camera.

    Wired stuff..
