Kodachrome reproduction profile (no simulation)
Hello everybody,
is there an icc profile that adjusts the colors of a photographed slide?
I am not looking for a simulation of a slide film but the true color reproduction:
I have a Kodachrome 64 slide, digitize it with a Nikon D850 camera.
Now I am faced with the problem, which color profile is the right one?
Using the Nikon D850 Generic or ProStandard icc Profile with a Linear Response seems to give the best result but not really the true colors of a Kodachrome. Is there a profile for Nikon that reproduces the colors of a Kodachrome without alteration?
Thanks for any hint.

c1 profiles are not colorimetric accurate so to improve things you need to build your own profiles. to do this you need a software which supports ( scanner ) transparent it8 or other targets like from hutchcolor and of course the target itself but maybe even a good standard camera profiles improves things as c1 profiles are rather tweaked.

Hello CSP
thank you for your answer.
This is exactly my problem.
Maybe there is someone who has already done this with a Nikon D850 and a Kodak Target and can provide a corresponding icc profile.
(Corresponding IT-8 Target for 35mm Kodak are very expensive, are no longer produced and I would need it only once).Thomas

I think silverfast is still selling this kind of targets but a repro profile build with Lumariver and a CC will get you probably also a little closer.
another option is to try other software, adobe is for sure better in this regard and dxo has a profile option - neutral colors gamma 2.2 - which is in m experience and to my surprise very close to the rendering of my custom profiles !

DxO PhotoLab 4 even has a kodachrome profile (Color positive film: generic kodachrome) which is very good. I was hoping that there could be something similar for Capture One. (it's true, silverfast still sells the kodak targets, but 699 € for a kodachrome target is a bit too much).

Hello Thomas,
did you find a solution? I am looking for the same.

Hi Matthias,
no, not really.
I mostly use DxO Photolab, which is the closest I can get to the colors. In the end it is an adjustment from remembering.Greetings
