New C1 Update Crashes
Been having issues since installing this newest C1 update release today. Especially when trying to enter Description information. As I type it just crashes. Also a number of time using the new Magic Brush it crashed. Never had any issues with the last release of C1.
Computer:
Apple Mac Mini M1, 16GB Ram, 1TB SSD, macOS Big Sur Version 11.4

Same here with identical system. Anytime I use my keypad, it crashes, it’s repeatable.

Thanks John for posting as now I know I am not the only one with this issue. Thinking about trying to completely uninstall and then reinstall a fresh update of C1 21.3. As of now just about every time I use the keypad C1 crashes.

I decided to do the same, first I'll try the new update and go back if that still won't work. I just hope that they will issue an update ASAP!

Update, I redownloaded V14.3, same issues. Downloaded and installed V14.2 and everything works. This is clearly an issue with the V14.3.

John, I just did a complete uninstall and did a fresh reinstall but like you same issues. If I use keypad it crashes. Go figure. Guess I may have to go back to V14.2 or use Lightroom Classic. I am very surprised no else is posting this issue. But then again they may not be using an Apple M1 system. Need to install on my MacBook Air M1 to see if I have the same issues.

John, Just updated C1 on MacBook Air M1, 16GB Raw, 1TB SSD, and have no issues with MacBook Air keypad crashing system. It only happens with Mac mini M1. Go figure.

Interesting since I am using an MBP with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, but experience the same problems you have with your Mini. Go figure. I sent C1 a support request, but have not received a response other than the confirmation. I am currently using the previous version 14.2 and have no problems, except miss the smart brushes.

John. have gone back to V14.2 and everything now works with no issuers. Yes I miss the updates also but got tired of the crashes. By the way where to you submit issues with C1?

John just an update. I tried one more thing this morning and I installed the update but this time I kept V14.2 and installed V14.3 and kept both versions for the time being installer of updating current catalog, Then I started a new catalog with v14.3 and imported images leaving them in current location (external G Technology drive), Just started with one month then tested typing information like description and so on. Did an export test and used magic brush. To my surprise no crashes. Have now imported year 2021 and so far no issues meaning no crashes. This is not exactly what I wanted to do but at least I can now use all the new features.
Once I know all is working I will delete V14.2 including the catalog for V14.2. Only have about three years with C1 since most of my catalog is with Lightroom Classic as I still use that program.
Cheers! Stu

Very interesting! This indicates that the catalog upgrade is not working as expected. In my case this would not work well since I am using one catalog for two years, I.e., 2020-2021. I will try this with importing one or two month of pictures, but I will for now at least continue to use version 14.2 since i hope that the team will fix this issue. Thanks for testing this innovative approach!

Mine is just one catalog 17-21. Just setup a new catalog and then imported a month of images just to see if it would work without crashing and had no crash. Now I setup a new catalog in V14.3 and used the Catalog Import Feature. So far import is working well. As the import was going on I did open an image and did some minor edits and enter info via keypad and no crashes. It's about 53,400 images and over half done with about 45 minutes to go from what is showing up on screen. Hopefully there will be no crashes. It does look like the catalog upgrade with Mi maybe the issue.

Thanks for your update, Stu. I appreciate your testing since it shows some hope, at least for us two. However the re-imported pictures won’t have the adjustments you did in your previous catalog and this would be a problem. Fortunately I don’t fave 53k pictures, only 20k. As an alternate, I could save all adjusted images as jpg or tiff which then would be available in the new 14.3 catalog. This would mean that all my previous catalogs would have to have the same process applied. Now that would be a much bigger task since it would bo back to 2010 or even earlier!

John did you ever hear back from Tech Support? I never did, but since starting over with new catalog all seems to be working ok. Go figure.
