Proof settings are confusing

Soft proofing and the use of profiles in Capture One really isn't as straight forward as it maybe could be. There is room for improvement in my opinion.

For my workflow I decided to deactivate "enable recipe proofing" in the view menu and set the profile to Adobe RGB in the "proof profile" selection under the view menu. And yes...it makes no sense why this is called "proof profile" as it is not the one that is activated by clicking on the proof icon but the one that is used to view all images in the browser/viewer. Maybe it should be called view profile?

With my settings described above C1 displays all my pictures in Adobe RGB. If I want to softproof, ich right click the softproof icon, select the recipe with the icc profile e.g. for my paper I will be printing on and activate the proof icon. I created a recipe for every paper/icc profile I want to be able to softproof.

I would love to see Capture One improving the soft proof function. Following features would be great in my opinion:

    - possibility to choose the rendering intend within the proof view

    - possibility to disable the paper and ink simulation; when I compare the softproof to the one in lightroom it seems as if C1 has the ink and paper simulation always activated; in lightroom i can enable or disable it

    - possibility to activate a split screen view or side by side comparison view of the picture with and without proof

    - option to automatically switch to a white background when activating proof view

    - select an icc profile by right clicking the proof button so there is no need to create a export recipe for each profile only to have it as an option in the proof button submenu

    I'd like to add

    • option to switch on/off Black point compensation
    • option for out-of-gamut warning

Please not in another modal window...
