More Efficient Placement of "Add Layer" / "Delete Layer" Icons

I agree, the new placement of these icons is a poor use of space (and now a slightly harder target to hit as they're so close vertically to the next row of buttons). I've actually gone back to 14.2 because of the horrific new exporter but these buttons being moved has bugged me too. Definitely some poor UI changes in 14.3!

The + icon is already in the viewer toolbar.

If you ask me, the viewer toolbar should not be cluttered with icons which belong to tools though. A horrible trend. It should have viewer actions only, however, this having said, I absolutely like the layer selection drop-down. But that's me, others might love more icons there...It would probably be best to make this customizable, as well as the icons in the layer tool.

My guess is they need more space in the layers tool for the upcoming re-implementation of the universal brush... :-))))))

Yeah, I know about the "+" (add layer) icon in the viewer toolbar.
I feel it is inconsistent to have it there and allow layer selection from the same place but not have "-" (delete layer) icon as well.

Who are these people who never make mistakes? :)

I don't mind functions being available from multiple places; if it supports various workflows, it does not bother me, as long as I can minimise the clutter for my workflows.

I agree that it would be ideal to be able to add/remove icons from various places (mimicking the approach of the main toolbar).

You sir, are a cruel man. :D

I really don't need an icon for selecting the universal brush. Just bring it back via a keyboard shortcut; just make me shut up about it. ;)

Class A, finally found this submission so I can add my vote at least.

(But separately to that, in regards to starting a new thread for general discussion, is that ok here? From looking thru all the other posts I get the impression this is only meant to be for specific issues.)

Yep, one key which selects the correct brush (adjustment brush, healing brush or cloning brush) depending on which layer is selected (an adjustment layer, heal layer or clone layer), without changing the layer when you start brushing (in case you have not the correct brush for the layer type). Abd the brush changes to the correct brush if you select another layer of a different type. As it was possible in all the years in previous versions.

This "bring back this feature" request fits everywhere, imo :-)

btw, if you delete the topmost layer with the minus icon, the background layer selected after the deletion is done, if there is no layer of the same type left. This happens even when you have the hand tool, not a specific brush tool.

Assume I want to delete all layers, this is additional clicks, it would be if the second top most layer would be selected, regardless of which layer type this is.

Thanks for adding your vote, much appreciated.

I hope someday, someone will forward this request to the developers. This does not appear to have happened yet, otherwise we should see the requested as being "Completed", right?

Regarding discussions, I believe you can have them anywhere. Out of respect to original posters and to keep requests focused, it is not a good idea to have off-topic discussion in feature request threads, but you can start any discussion in the Capture One 21.x Software for Windows forum or the Capture One 22.x Software for Windows forum, for instance.

I'd be interested in hearing more from you (e.g., regarding what you were alluding to in another thread).
