Tethering problems with my Canon R5 - solved!

Hello everyone!

So I was looking for the solution of my problem for about 1 week : I couldn't shoot tethered with my Canon R5 although my MacBook Pro did recognize it, and also Lightroom and EOS Utility 3. 

It kept saying that there were a problem with the camera when I tried to connect it.

I tried to remove the memory card, to format it, to erase all settings on my camera... Nothing.

Then I came across one person on internet saying sometimes Google Drive interferes with Capture One, so I uninstalled it, and BOOM! It works!

I wanted to share this with you so you can save 1 week of searches of your life 😅😅😅

    I'm not affected by the problem (I'm a Windows user, and I don't tether my R5) but I'd like to thank you anyway for posting the solution. It's a shame that more people on the forum aren't as considerate.

    I have updated macOS, my R5 firmware and upgraded CO. All running on the latest software as of 10/03/24. Up until now I have been pulling my hair out trying to overcome the tethering issues I've been having. With limited to no success, quitting all background apps, I eventually pulled the CF express card from the camera and the tethering is now 100% bulletproof. I can yank the tether cable out, or open memory card cover or turn the camera on/off randomly and the tether comes back up instantly when I plug back in or close battery door etc.

    The camera appears to tether just fine with an SD card in the slot. For now the issue appears to be with having a CF express card in the slot. (PS. I use Angelbird 512GB CF Express Type B)

    Yep, goes for me too. Nothing helped until I removed the CF express card, and boom, everything works...
