Problems importing/accessing CMYK icc files
I thought it was an older C1 version problem, so signed up for the subscription but still can't export in CMYK. Running on IOS Big Sur 11.6.2. Have downloaded two separate icc CMYK files, moved them to Library/ColorSync/Profiles but they don't appear in the Export ICC Profile dropdown menu. CMYK Output remains greyed out and those files are nowhere in view.
After two days searching Google and YouTube and searching the forum, I'm stuck. Thanks for any direction.

hm, are other color profiles in the same folder displayed ? ... you also clicked show all in the profile list ?

Thanks for the reply, CSP. Yes to both: I did select “show all” in the drop down menus, and other icc files, including the uploaded CMYK files, are visible in Library/ColorSync/Profile … but no CMYK files of any sort show up to use in C1. CMYK is greyed out in the drop down list and they’re not visible anywhere else on that list. I have imported several ColorChecker color correction icc files without issue: they show up in the Library/ColorSync/Profile file AND in icc window under Base Characteristics.
Do I need to move the files somewhere else?

What is the file extension on the files you have loaded?

For the CMYK, two were .icc and the US Web Coated is a .sit

.sit is a mac compression format which was popular 20 years ago, you need stuffit expander (App Store) to open it, which leads to the question are this profiles still relevant ?
for a test with an actual working profile download this pso-coated_v3.zip ( this is a current cmyk profile for printing in the EC ! ) also do you have adobe software installed ?

Thanks, CSP! My new printing co wanted that US Web Coated icc which is why I went looking for it. Good to know that particular file is outdated.
I downloaded your working file above and moved the .icc to the Library/ColorSync/Profile file. Still doesn't show up in Export dropdown--even after C1 closed and restarted. CMYK is still greyed out.
I no longer have Adobe creative packages.

make sure to use the correct profile as the profile you downloaded is an old standard, adobe installs a v2 profile, best try to get it from your printshop.
profiles can be stored either in - library/ColorSync/profiles or user/library/ColorSync/profiles so I would test what happens when you change the location. you can also use the ColorSync Utility to see where they are stored and if they are available for the system.
I use Monterey and the latest c1 and for me all works fine. do you have any other app installed which can be used for color profile conversion to rule out that it is not an os related problem ?

CSP,
Thanks for the tip on v2 files. Manipulating color files is new to me. I have CS6 on an old laptop, maybe I can do some icc file placing and experimenting there.
Sounds like, via the other icc thread we both popped up on, and for anyone else searching for solutions, that icc files not showing up in Export is a bug w the current version of Big Sur.
Many great points learned here for future troubleshooting. I appreciate all the help.0 -
you are welcomed, cmyk can be a dangerous field, cmyk profiles are device profiles which means they reflect specific printing conditions the profile posted looks very special to me and is not a standard like swap.
maybe Monterey is the solution for your problem ?

CSP,
Thanks for the info on and trying out that posted/shared icc file. I think Monterey is the best option. Backing up now, again, before updating. I see Apple just released Monterey 12.2 so fingers crossed everything works afterward. Thanks again!

CSP, hello again--
Monterey 12.2 works. Like magic, a whole list of CMYK options showed up in the Export dropdown. Yay.
