Distortion correction for jpeg images

    But why don't you enable the distortion slider for manually correcting for jpeg images?

    This is a user community forum and the people reading this are users like yourself.

    If you want a change to C1, you should submit a request - see top of screen and to the right.

    Sameer,

    C1 Lens correction is based upon having lens data to adjust in a RAW format.

    For a jpg the only option is to use some pixel manipulation and in general that sort of tool has nothing to do with Lens Adjustments.

    For C1,  the Keystone tool is the nearest option to pixel pushing that I can think of (excluding anything like Healing, Cloning and spot/dust removal.)

    I think you would find that a completely different tool would be required inorder to allow some sort of appearance adjustment of a jpg image (or other file formats where no RAW lens data is available) to mimic something like lens adjustments in a fully processed file.

    In most cases for modern cameras and lenses (unless the lenses are fully manual operation with no electronic data communicated to the camera) there are built-in lens corrections from the manufacturer the are necessary for the lens to produce anywhere close to a usable output. These will be embedded in the jpg from the camera.  Any changes after that will require pixel-pushing of the type found in Photoshop, Affinity  Photo, etc.

    Hi SFA

    Thanks for taking the time to help me. You are right. I can see the Keystone tool is the nearest possibility. But it just has vertical or os sideway transformation control. But it just lacks the inward/outward radial bulge/distortion correction. I wish C1 had included that in this. In fact, they have that under lense profile. I wish they could have mimic that in the Keystone for jpg so we don't have to move the image to photoshop or affinity.

    Hi Shane,

    I have sent this as a request to the C1 dev team. Lets see.

    @SFA

    I was unaware that Capture One wouldn't do this with a JPG file, so I tried it. Sure enough the sliders are greyed out. But as an experiment I also tried it with the same file in Lightroom, and there, it seems, you can do it. So apparently it can be done with a JPG file. (No doubt, just pixel-using as you say, but still maybe useful to some at times.)
