CaptureOne20 Spinning Beach ball when tabbing back from other software
Encountering a spinning beach ball when tabbing back to captureOne20 from other software (bridge, helicon focus, Photoshop, Finder, etc). I've fully reinstalled capture and the problem still occurs. Spinning occurs for roughly 4 to 6 seconds and occurs even when no images are being imported. Problem is intermittent and does not always occur when tabbing. Machine specs and software below:
Mac Pro 2019
3.2 GHz 16-Core Intel Xeon W
256 GB 2933 MHz DDR4
AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo 32 GB
2x Eizo CX241 attached via usb C to display port cables (patched to the GPU)
Running CapureOne 13.1.4.15 On Catalina 15.10.7

Greetings Robyn,
Could you please elaborate on this "tabbing" so that I can provide proper assistance to you. I am not familiar with this term.
Could you also provide me with the hardware you are using for your keyboard and mouse?

Hi Alfi,
Im referring to using command +tab to switch between open applications on Mac OS. Using a Logitech MX master keys and Logitech MX Master 3 mouse.

Ah, my mistake. Sorry for the confusion I'm a Windows user here. Alt+Tab, I should have known.
The Fn Keys of the logitech can be a bit tricky and interfere with programs since it is running it's own application at the same time. I do not think that is your problem but something to take a look at. Another thing could be the older version of capture. Why are you not staying up to date? The future is now.
Would you by chance have a screen recording of this issue so that I may help further?

You seem to have one foot in the present and one in the past. Bring them both to the future and upgrade to v21. You will be pleased with the improvements.
I see you have helicon so I assume you are using this for tabletop photography. The new features for the grids/guides is going to help you immensely. You will be pleased.
Another thing to check is to see if you have any plugins installed. Sometimes those can cause capture to be stuck while changing programs.
It is getting late here but I will keep an eye on your progress.

Perhaps its time to jump into the future and go to 21. Thanks for your help Alfi!

Of course, Robyn. I am a retired engineer that has taken to photography so I try and stay on the forums to help people like yourself. I think the upgrade will solve this issue, holding onto the past can lead to great peril.
If things don't get better I highly advise submitting a support ticket, grabbing a cup of tea, and waiting for the C1 staff to handle your issue. Things like this are hard to replicate with such complicated OS also changing rapidly. I do think they will recommend updating as well. Possibly updating your OS as well. I know there is reluctancy to do so but it may come at a cost to run such a powerful machine on a dated OS.
Best of luck, Robyn. I anxiously await to hear the outcome of this.

Good Morning Robyn,
I had some thoughts during my morning tea. Which drive are you shooting to? Is it external? I would hope not as this is not good. You do seem like a smart lad so I think the answer is no.
I've always been curious about shooting tabletop photography. My background in engineering seems like it would blend quite nicely with the subject matter. If you would perhaps be interested in sending along some images for me to see I'd be delighted. My email is: alfredandersenphoto@gmail.com

Hey Alfi,
Just wanted to update you after a couple days of testing, swapped to C21 w/ the same workflow and haven't had any instances of the problem occurring since.
Good luck on the table top photography! Though I'm not an engineer I agree the mindset would likely blend very well with still life table top work.
Take care!
