Can not access external hard drives

Can't help with your issue, but have a similar and they might be related. Ver 22 can no longer access Google drive for backups - it fails with permission problem message. Everything else works like it used to, besides I can do backup to a local drive and then copy it to Google drive, no issues. I have contacted support, but they ignored me.

I've asked the same question, both on here and twice on Twitter but no reply to anything... If I can't access my hard drive images directly without importing I'll have to look at other software.

A more detailed question or description of what you are trying to do in the C1 software could help other users  here to understand you. e.g. catalog or session, where exactly did you click, what do you expect there to see vs. what do you actually see there, did you do the same thing in a previous version with a different result, etc.

In previous versions of capture you could just see your Hard drives in the library and access them, including RAW files. In the new version of Capture, external hard drives and their files are greyed out so you can't work on them.

So you've done this in the past hence I assume you have a catalog which references images on that external disk, and you cannot access the folders and images in the library tool anymore?

You should be able to work directly on images that are available in external drives using a SESSION but Catalogs require an import process of some sort to create the Catalog database entries.

However, seeing the drives but not being able to access them suggests some form of Permissions constraint in the system that stops you from making use of those files. For example, you may find the permissions disallow any access or allow READ access but not WRITE access, which would prevent a Session-based activity from working with the files.

If you know all of that and have already checked it a being a potential source of the problem then I apologise but it needed to be discussed.

I'm not a Mac user so I have no experience with Mac permissions issues. If you feel you may need so suggestions about the subject I hope that someone else will pass by and offer some guidance.

Hi, I am having the same issue after i updated my Mac OS to 12.3. Now I can't open my sessions that were created previously in my external hard drive. However, when i import the session from my hardisk to desktop, it is able to read. Will Capture One be resolving this issue in the next version?

Hi folks, just saw this post and thought I’d share the answer. I had the same problem.

Go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Files and Folders -> Capture One 22. Then check the box next to Removable Volumes, and everything will work.

JE, you just saved my life. I couldn't figure out why my sessions aren't working anymore. And I didn't even think of the Access settings because I had a second external drive that was working perfectly fine. Thanks

I've found the same problem but I'm suspecting it is because my external drive is ALSO the drive I have Time Machine backup .... and this is creating the problem....unfortunately I don't have a solution but I am hoping (beyond hope!) that these boards are monitored by C1 technical staff??
