I wouldn't mind so much, but not only have the moved the gear to the export dialogue, but they've removed functionality.  I can no longer specify the job name to be included in the exported filename.

I personally dont want lightroom like export windows.  If you want to copy anything from Lightroom then copy the lens correction and HDR functions :)

Aauuggg - I hate when they make these kinds of "updates".  At least Photoshop gives you the option to use "classic" features a lot of the time. I hope they do that here.

Good point Jonathan, but HDR and stichting panos or alike are for advanced photographers and they seem to be targeting the photographers who, in case they are using a raw developer at all, are already overwhelmed by the "complexity" of the output / process tools.

I think I understand their motivation to marry the export and output tools, they failed a bit on their assessment whether or not the capabilities of the output tools for exporting, soft-proofing and tethering while processing are really used or needed, and the willigness of users to make a step back in efficiency/usability, or they just don't see this regression.

Their blog article "we hear you" might indicate that they will give us the "classic" feature back.

And yes, there are much better examples of missing LR features which would give us better value.

EDIT: I edited my comment and now the thread appears topmost in "Recent activity"? Sorry...

I think they wrote an email, that the “usual” processing tool is coming back in future update as there were many complaints about it :)

Such is the course of "progress".

Yes I finally figure it out and I have to say, I hate it every single solitary time I use export.  What a colossal miss on their part.

Please bring this back.. It was so much more convenient than export.

All you have to do is press Ctrl-D (Cmd-D on a Mac) - it does exactly the same as the gear icon does, and perhaps because you don't have to move the mouse to find the icon, it is even faster.

    Hi Jake,

the icon (and the function behind) is back since V14.4. You just have to add it again to your workspace:

Click beside the registers on the left upper side of the workspace and add a new register (tab) as shown above.

    Kind regards
    Ernst
