Does Capture Pilot display via Export Recipes?

Just did my first tether session today using the recommendations to set up a session template etc. Worked really well.

I did have a small question about Capture Pilot though. I found that the images displayed on the iPad are always linked to an Export Recipe, for example they were originally showing a watermark recipe I'd set up and I had to highlight a simple JPG recipe to get them to show normally.
So, is an Export Recipe always applied to the image viewed on the iPad? If so, should I always make sure '2048 for web use' is highlighted?
