    Goode Morning
All you have to do is copy the files from your backup to a folder in your session direcetory (Capture/"titel") then add the folder as a favorite. OR In the Import dialog box, set the destination/ Target  to Capture. (A Folder belonging to your session)

    Sorry for my bad English

No need to be unsure. Right click on an image in C1 to bring up a menu that should have two "Show in" options. Show in Library should open the image location folder under "System Folders" in C1. Show in Finder should open the image location folder in the Mac's Finder tool (my Windows version of C1 has Show in Explorer). Both "Show in" options should lead you to the folder where C1 finds the image.

Thanks to you both! This starts me on the road to clarity.

A further question: it seems that files are in a few locations, none of which are the capture folder. What is the best way to move and consolidate them in the capture folder...without screwing everything up?

General wisdom is to work inside C1, don't work on (move/rename/delete/...) C1's files behind C1's back. That said, sessions are more forgiving than catalogs are, but things may depend on how important existing edits are to you. I guess starting from scratch meant giving something up. If you have C1 "pack" an image to an image.eip file, you can transfer that .eip file with edits embedded to a different session and continue your work.
