Couple of basic questions about preferences
Hey, guys,
Here's a newbie who just switched to C1 and needs some help.
I'm using the latest C1 21 Pro v.14.3.1.10 with macOS Mojave 10.14.6. I got 2 questions (for now):
- What is the function of this preference (in General tab) that says 'Enable Tangent device support'? What does that mean?
- Is there a way to set the 'ProStandard' ICC profile as a default (instead of 'Generic')? I don't see the preference for that.

Hi Rob,
2. In the Case Characteristics tool there is an icon top right with 3 dots. Select an image from your camera and set the default there.

Hi Rob,
1. is for the Tangent controller
2. go to the basic characteristics tool, select an image and click the three dots icon

Hi Marco,
My reply originally included the link as well and my repy got blocked "Pending approval" like one year ago when the new software AI was a du--mb untrained sibling of its kind, apparently you have a better reputation with these smart bytes... :-)

Thank you, guys, both of you.
@B.O – I tried your suggestion regarding my question #2, but it didn't work for me. Any image I haven't edited yet still shows the generic ICC profile that came with the camera, when I select that image.

Not always. I manage a mailing list hosted on google. Sometimes google puts my messages to the list into the pending approval list... where I have to approve it. A real head scratcher.
Rob, after changing the profile to your desired profile you should be able to select the "Save as Defaults for XXX" from the 3-dot menu where XXX is the camera used. Note I said should. I've not actually done that so don't know if it works.

Yes, you can "save as default for XXX camera" BUT you have to understand that this won't automatically change the profile on existing images. it will change it for images from that camera that you import thereafter.

Hi, Ian,
this won't automatically change the profile on existing images. it will change it for images from that camera that you import thereafter.
I see. That seems logical. Thanks.
I'm good, for now. I will come back with more questions in a near future...

Rob D,
Don't forget to try your question in the Search facility first.
The community pages contain a lot of FAQ articles and in many cases it may be possible to find your answers there without having to wait for a response.
For example, your "Tangent" question through my browser produced several FAQ articles and user guide references in about a 1/4 of a second.
