Is the Capture One "paid version" for Fujifilm any better than the Capture One Express for Fujifilm Express?

In general I don't think the paid version is better in regards the issues you mentioned. The paid version has more features.

Did you change anything in your workflow or the RAF files by any changed setting in the camera or pre-processing the files with any other software?

Can you cross check if the old files which you imported previously with success still can be imported? e.g. copy a couple of them and try to import them.

    Thanks BeO, appreciate your thoughts.

I've not changed anything in my workflow; but I did read that since I'm using Fuji/C21 Express version, that I cannot edit and do things with any files that are not Fuji RAF.  I wonder if once I saved imported RAF's to my Dell PC, then opened them in windows during export to C21, they somehow are becoming "not identified" as Fuji RAF files.

Jpegs I've also tried to bring into C21, they start to import, then poof, Zero Files Selected.  I'll try again now. I really want to like this program!

    Thanks,

    Steve

Hi Steve, not sure what your workflow is, but reading

opened them in windows during export

Exported and opened the RAFs? Export from where to where? Opened with what app? Sounds as if you are doing different things with your images with different apps simultaneously?

C1 will not (read: never ever) change your "original" files (read: the files you import, regardless of file type). As a rule, you should not change your original raw files either (at least not if you want to work with C1) unless you know subsequent apps can cope with it.

For example, I never ever save my Nikon raws with Nikon raw developer (after having bad experiences in C1), as Nikon apps change the raw files in a way I cannot expect any other raw developer can cope with.

Possibly if you describe your workflow from start to end somebody here might be able to identify a cause for your issues.

Yes, Fuji version (Express or paid) only reads Fuji raw and standard file formats like jpg, tiff. DNGs must originate from a supported Fuji camera too, afaik. Not all RAFs, the specific camera model must be supported though.

My workflow is super simple for now, since I'm trying to learn C21, switched from few years with LR and last year with Luminar.

RAF files, downloaded and saved to my hardrive in folder on new dell XPS 15.  Open C21 express, hit "IMPORT" icon, select that folder on my C drive, click import.  Then thumbnails all import in, good so far.  Then I double click on first thumbnail or click on Edit icon and next screen opens up; " No Files Selected or Available.

If they would come up, I'd edit as usual, then export as Jpegs to a separate folder back on my C drive.
