C1 21 slow in catalog mode, but normal in Session mode
Hello,
There is a marked difference in reactivity, like display speed, between Catalog mode and Session mode. In Catalog mode, it takes time to display the images, and it seems even that there is no caching : after having displayed an image, if you switch to the following one and back to the previous, it takes again time to redisplay the preceding image. None of this occurs in Session mode. My catalog is not huge : 30 k photos. C1 21 Catalog mode is therefore a pain to use. The same phenomenon seems to occur with a trial version of C22.
Could it be some configuration problem ? I don't see many options except for the preview size : my iMac is a Retina 5k ; no big difference when changing preview size. Cache location perhaps ?
I asked for a support case one month ago, but no answer up to now...
Thanks in advance for any help.

For your catalog, where are the image files stored, and where is the catalog datable itself stored?
(I agree that 30,000 photos is not huge - my catalog is 45,000 or so, and works OK on a similar iMac.)

Hi Ian,
Thanks.
Images folder : on the iMac HD.
C1 catalog : at the root of the main images folder.

Yes, very similar setup to mine. My iMac is also a 2019 Retina 5K 27 inch, and my images and catalog are stored like yours are.
How about RAM? I bought my iMac with the minimum 8GB and bought an extra 32 GB so that it is now 40GB.
