When somebody wants to take a single step instead of two or three small steps, things can go wrong. Importing a structure while renaming photos leads to the question, how do the renamed photos find their spot in your structure? Especially when things go wrong. And they will go wrong, I had to learn: background processing sometimes stumbles over it's own feet.

And when you exported photos in a different naming scheme than is possible now, you will run into troubles. Capture One is not well thought as a DAM, some things which were super-easy to do* in Aperture are simply impossible to do in C1. Did you already watch a couple of their tutorial videos like https://youtu.be/SRh-1tUnDA4 ?

A possible way could be to make a new catalog and using your old one as template. This way you get the structures - but need to fill in the freshly imported and renamed photos manually. Y

ou also could try to use the "Rename" command, although I simply didn't enjoy the poorly programmed execution**. And I don't know it it accepts tokens. I ended up to rename pictures in a capable app before importing them, as it turnt out: During renaming with C1 the app occasionally crashed. And didn't find the photos renamed by C1 as they were renamed in their folder, but not in the crashed catalog.

    * like "finding out in which albums/collections a certain photo is which I found in "all photos" or somewhere else in it's structure."

**sometimes it keeps a renaming text for the next 20 other renamings, sometimes the default text is highlighted, sometimes only parts or nothing of it. It sucks.
