Metadata (XMP) import for Sony ARW files broken?
Hi all!
Just checking.
Until last week I had no problems importing Sony ARW RAW files (Sony A7iii) along with XMP metadata created with PhotoMechanic 6. Today I noticed that the latest files (imported with the newly installed C1 14.4) does not seem to import the XMP data – or at least it does not show the data in the application. The XMP files ARE copied to the final location on an external disk along with photo files just as expected.
It works with iPhone photos with XMP files, both JPEG and HEIC in version 14.4, also edited with PM6.
Some other info. The files are imported to a catalog, the actual files are stored on an external NAS after import. Before import they are on my local drive.
My process is:
- use PhotoMechanic 6 (PM6) for importing images from the camera
- evalute images at import (rejected images are not even offloaded from the camera)
- in PM6 add IPTC data descriptions, keywords, ratings, GPS etc
- import to C1 catalog
- put images in relevant albums
I have tried to see if I can se metadata in searches (in case it is only viewing metadata that is broken), but that does not work. I have tried "Load metadata" manually, but nothing.
Anyone else seen this? If so, is it only Sony? Any remedies?
Thanks

So,
I tried creating a new Session (rather than a Catalog) and… XMP metadata IS being understood in the file browser and also imported into the session.
So C1 actually understands the XMP data, it just somehow ignores it in catalogs?
Btw I ran a database verification and repair, just in case. No change, XMP still not imported.
