Can't get my Fuji X-T3 to connect

Just downloaded the trial, and using a tether tools usb-c to usb-c into my iMac (Big Sur 11.6) from my Fuji X-T3 with no SD card. The Fuji software is up to date. It doesn't recognize the camera. It very briefly recognized it and was able to take a couple photos, but not any since then. I've restarted many times and don't know how to fix this or if it'll work. I keep getting this error:

"Description: The request did not complete within the specified timeout period.The Camera did not respond within 10 seconds.

This can happen for several reasons. E.g.:

  - Capture One does not support tethering for this camera brand or model

  - Camera is not setup up correctly for tethering

  - Camera memory card contains too many images. Removing memory cards could alleviate this issue

    Did you set the camera to „USB Auto“?
