Import iPhone RAW images

Preferred?  Haven't a clue.  I don't import from camera or memory card directly into Capture One for reasons.  My phone shares images with my Mac via icloud.   Given that:

    • Launch photos on the Mac
    • Select the images and use File -> Export -> Export Unmodified Original
    • Click the Export button
    • Select a location somewhere in my filesystem for the images
    • Click the Export Originals button

Now I import those images as referenced images in Capture One using the "Add to Catalog" option.

I sometimes use the Halide photo app which can create a DNG raw file.  When I export originals I get both the HEIC image and the dng image.  I typically import the dng.

There are probably easier and/or faster ways to do this.   However, the procedure works for me as I'm rarely in a hurry to process images.

Alternative method (to avoid using the Photos app).

I connect the phone to the Mac using a cable, and then use the Image Capture app to put the images where I want them on my computer. If you are using a Session in Capture One, you can put them directly into the Capture folder, and Capture One will see them. If you are using a catalog you will have to import, or synchronise, the folder where you have put them.
