Slow text search
Hi. I appreciate this may have been asked before but i cannot find any answers so far.
I have 39k photos in my main catalogue and i sometimes want to search for a picture using a text search. For example i may want to see all my photos of a White-tailed Eagle so i would normally (back when i was a Lightroom user), go to All Photographs and then type in "white-tailed eagle" and the search results would start to appear almost instantly. In capture one, when i click on all photographs it begins loading the photos at a very slow rate (i can see the number in brackets going up slowly). It seems to have to load the previews of all 39k photos in order to search them. Lr never did this. i just typed in my search and they started to appear. Why can i not do the same in C1?

Managed to answer this myself. I had my preferences set to automatically read metadata. This meant that whenever I clicked on All Photographs, C1 was reading the metadata on 39k photos which is why everything was running so slow and no searches would work as intended. By changing this preference to ‘None’ I was able to get C1 to load all 39k in just a couple of minutes and then text searches were super fast.

Hi Stephen!
> I had my preferences set to automatically read metadata.
Where did you change this setting? On which page of the preferences? At a short sight I could not find this option.
Kind regards

Hi Ernst. It’s in the Image sub menu in the preferences. Bottom options under Metadata. It says autosync sidecar xmp. Change this drop down to None.

Thank you Stephen!
I missunderstood what you meant originally. ;) Sorry.
Kind regards
