Filter on part of a Keyword

I don't know about Mac but Windows will happily look for character strings anywhere in the keywords provided they are not excluded from the current selection of images by some other filter.

The Case Sensitivity is a feature shared on both Mac and Windows. Personally I think, in the context of the use case, it has benefits.

I don't understand why but choosing Any instead of Keyword will do what you want.

Any is looking at all the available data for the image, including Keywords.

Might it be that the string you are looking for is somewhere in the file but not as a KW?

Another thought - is the Keyword one that has been added in C1 or has it arrived pre-appended to the file from an external source?

reply to Fred - I will try "Any" I have not used this before. Could be a good workaround.

    replies to SFA -

    1. to my knowledge there is no other filter in effect. I am looking at All Images in the catalog with no filters on.

    2. the string is part of the keyword, and not present in any other of the metadata.

    3. the Keyword was added in C1.

It is odd that a partial keyword does not work. The workaround using Any will help for the time being. Thanks to both of you for bringing it to my attention.

    Fred,

    Session or Catalog?

I ask because for a session it is quite easy to check the content of the edit instructions file for each variant of an image and check the Keywords that have been entered - just to see if there might be something strange going on.

The other thing that has just struck me when I read your most recent post is that your example of "FredAppleton" and searching for "Appleton" might just be causing some selection conflict with the use of a capitalised "A" perhaps being interpreted as a start letter of a full word and perhaps assuming that there should be no immediately preceding characters.

However, I tested for that in my (Windows) system and saw no restrictions at all.

For what it is worth I tend to enter name Keywords with a space  - in effect a "Keyphrase" with capitalisation - simply because it seems to be more likely to be consistent use if including keywords on export. It makes the documents searchable wherever they may end up using common name formatting conventions.

Of course, NOT doing that may be advantageous in slightly reducing the search compatibility in some use cases!

So the problems seems odd and I am out of ideas and testing options.

Is it consistently a Mac only problem may be the next question to answer.
