All of my photo edits are gone
I'm working in a catalog. I realized my folders were no longer showing in a logical order (They are labeled by date, and 10-01 was showing before 9-01, for example). So I went and renamed my folders, within the Capture One session, to be 09-01, 09-05, etc. I did all this, then closed the catalog and opened a different one. When I returned to the first catalog, the folders had revered to the old names, and showed a count of '0' in most of the folders.
When I try to "locate" the folder in the menu, it reloads the photos without any of my edits or metadata. As you can see in my screenshot, 04-3 has remained intact, with my edits for some reason. 05-29 was one I tried to manually rename again. The photos showed, but without the edits. 5-26 is one I tried to use "locate", but they showed up without any edits. 6-13 has some photos with edits, but they're missing. The rest all show as missing.
I am at a total loss. Catalogs don't save sidecar files by default. How can I get all of these edits back??
There are a few imports in the recent import menu, which show all of the edits, and the photos are not missing (although their folder was renamed). Can I copy those over somehow to save them?
I submitted a ticket 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing. I'm extremely frustrated here and at the lack of response. I hope someone can shed some light on this!

Make a backup of this catalog first.
Assuming the folders on the filee system were actually renamed (e.g. to 05-26...), what happens if you rename them back e.g. to 5-26... using Windows Explorer? Close C1 prior to this.

Renaming the folder back to the original name in Windows Explorer does cause the photos to show up again, but they're unedited raws. None of my edits or metadata show up.

hm.
Having one folder renamed back and the others named with the new naming schema, try File>Verify catalog.
You are probably not familiar with database, SQL and update statements, are you?

I can get someone to take a look, but what are they looking for? I ran the Verify Catalog, and it says "Database check OK" at the end. No changes to the files or edits.

Well, understand the database structure and content enough to see if the edits you have done are still in there. If not, you have to turn to your latest catalog backup or accept the edits are gone. If yes, figure out how to make the images with the edits available to the C1 application, I guess it then can only be a matter of correctiing some paths in the database, probably best with update statements.
The catalog file is a SQLite database file, so you need to download a SQLite "editor"

I came back here because this finally got solved, and I finally got my edits back - still no response from CaptureOne support after 3 weeks.
We spent a while looking in the database - the edits were there. We eventually realized all we had to do was use CaptureOne to "Add Folder" - and when it was added this way (NOT by syncing, or locating, but ADDING) the edits finally showed up. Didn't need to do any edits to the database. I even recovered a folder that I had "synced" by renaming to where I thought the cached edits were, then "located" it again.

Very good. Thanks for reporting back, might help others.
