I use a Wacom tablet. For traveling it's a Small, but at home it's a Medium because I prefer the larger surface and greater number of buttons.

I've also tried an iPad Pro using AstroPad. It works well, but unfortunately if you want to have it configured for more than one app you must buy a subscription, which seems unreasonable to me as they very rarely update the app (like once/year or something). Also, there's a slight response delay using AstroPad, whereas Wacom's instantaneous when connected via USB (the current ones have a lag when connected via Bluetooth).

I find the iPad Pro more useful as a second display using the Duet app (Mojave and earlier) or Catalina and later OS built-in capabilities. That's because my preferred C1 workspace extends over 2 displays.

Thank you for your response!  Are you using a mac with the M1 chip?  I am curious if there's been any compatibility issues at all?  I will, mostly, be using a tablet with my macbook and a external monitor for editing.
