Affinity Photo Crashing due to Pro 21

I have been using Affinity Photo v1.10.3 without any issues on my Mac OS 11.6.  I just installed Pro 21 and now Affinity Photo almost instantly freezes upon opening a raw file.  It seems to work ok for a jpg.  Affinity also becomes non-responsive within 15 seconds.  e.g. I can adjust the exposure slider and see no change.  Force Quit is the only way to close out Affinity after this happens.  Also had problems with my computer not shutting down properly as a result of this. As a side note, Capture One is sluggish compared to Affinity.  There is a noticeable delay/lag for image to refresh when I move an adjustment slider.  Turning off Hardware Accelerator made a moderate improvement for Capture One performance.  I am using a MacBook Pro 16G RAM, i7 quad-core, Radeon Pro 450 2 GB, more than sufficient hard drive space.  

I would really like to keep using Affinity Photo.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated.
