    Hi,

I'm also a new user and had similar slow response issues.  I posted what worked for me here:

After these changes, it has been working well.  I have my files on my local hard drive but I did a quick test opening a small library from my MacMini server and it still worked great.

Thank you. I'm on a desktop, so your solution won't help me. As you pointed out there is already a thread on this https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360014294858-C1-21-Very-Slow?page=1#community_comment_4409850982417 so I commented there.

Wow! Well done if you've kept using Aperture until now!
I've had similar problems that were caused by errors in the build of the Catalog in C1 12.

You could try rebuilding the Catalog. Or you may have to build it again: create a new catalog then import the old catalog. This keeps all your adjustments but creates new previews and a clean database (I think). 200,000-odd images on a 2011 iMac took me a couple of days. But it was worth it.

Thanks Tom. In my case, the issue might be as simple as preview size. I didn’t realize that for  high resolution displays, the size of the previews needs to be upped accordingly, or C1 will load the full image, until I happened to see a C1 webinar on this. It’s running faster now.

That's good. I assumed you had that sorted as Aperture, LightRoom all have similar issues. I keep my preview size to 2048 px as I'm on a creaky old iMac. It just takes longer when zooming in.

Also, I wonder how many of the people with performance issues with C21 are in the 8G RAM camp (minimum system requirement for C1), like me. I’m finding that 8G is spent in no time and things bog down from there....
