White Balance Inconsistency With Fuji RAW Files
I've recently noticed an inconsistency in Capture One's white balance values (Kelvin and Tint) with files imported from my Fuji X-T3. I always shoot in RAW format, so please keep that in mind as you read through the rest of this post.
Here's a brief description of the issue, comparing results from my Nikon D810 to the Fuji X-T3:
- If I shoot with my Nikon D810 with the in-camera white balance set to "Sunny", when I import the RAW file into Capture One and open the White Balance tool I see Kelvin and Tint values of 5211 and 0.1 respectively (i.e., with White Balance Mode set to "Shot").
- If I then change Capture One's White Balance Mode to "Sunny", I see the exact same numbers, as I'd expect - Kelvin and Tint values of 5211 and 0.1 respectively.
Here's where things get interesting:
- If I now shoot with my Fuji X-T3 with the in-camera white balance set to "Daylight", when I import the RAW file into Capture One and open the White Balance tool, I see Kelvin and Tint values of 4837 and 5.8 respectively (i.e., with White Balance Mode set to "Shot").
- If I then change Capture One's White Balance Mode to "Daylight", I see the different values, which I would not expect - Kelvin and Tint values of 5001 and 0.6 respectively, and there's a noticeable color shift towards green when viewing the image in the preview window.
Any idea what is going on here? - before I submit a bug report, I thought I'd better check with the knowledgeable people on the forum to see if anyone else has seen this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
