Canon R5 Tethering To MacBook Pro M1Max

I'm absolutely finding this issue to be a thing today.  I hope we get a resolution soon.   I can't seem to import files either as the R5 won't show up in import. I'm using image-capture to get the files off the camera but that's not a tethering solution.  Definitely feel frustrated right now!

Sorry if this is obvious but have you tried removing any memory cards and then connecting the R5 to the computer?

    Hey John,

You know I didn't think to try that because I haven't had any issues in the passed with tethering with it in.  However, I do know it's one of the CaptureOne's recommendations.  I will test this out when I get a chance.

You've all probably figured this out, but I recently upgraded to a 2021 Macbook M1 Max, and suddenly my R5 wouldn't tether via cable even though the R6 would. Both showed up on wireless tethering, though.

As I didn't have any pressing shoots before the coming week, I've relied on the wireless tether so far, but needing the R5 to tether by cable this monday, I stumbled over this post, and of course, removing the memory cards solved everything – THANK YOU!

Now I have the joy of fullsize R5-RAW tethering way faster on USB-C than my 5Dmk3 ever did :D

One more to vote that as a solution. Have your memory card removed before tethering. It was not obvious to me, so thanks for sharing!
