Removing Images from Collections

Is it safe to assume your collection, in this case, is an Album of some sort?

If so is it a Smart Album or a "manually managed" album?

Yes, a manually-managed Album. I keep fotgetting that Collection is the Lr term. There's no way to manually add images to a Smart Album.

So, how does one remove an image from a manual Album? In Lr one right-clicks on the image and selects Remove.

The same way in Capture One. Right click and check the "Delete" option(s) on the pop-up options list that should appear.

Smart albums can be populated by applying the appropriate metadata field entries for the Album grouping required. A Keyword or phrase that might be the same as the name one would give the album should allow images (even image variants) to be added to the Album or removed fr the album by adding or removing the Keyword - for example.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I returned to the Album and tried right-clicking on several different images. On some of them it said "Delete Variant from Collection" on others it showed only "Delete Variant", which is what caused my confusion. I had no wish to delete the variant from the catalogue or the disk. I'll have to play with it some more and see if I can determine why it's treating different images in the same album differently and what each option really means.

    Mike.
