When going in to fullscreen (Shortcut F), my tools auto hide and don't come back?

Hey Capture users! 

I am having trouble since updating to my new MacBook, I use the "F" shortcut a lot (!!) to view my pictures in the largest size possible.

On my old machine, when I went in to Full screen all the UI elements where hidden and when  when I hit "F" again they would reappear. But now when I go out of full screen mode, the tool tab (with all the functions in there) goes in to auto hide mode and I have to manually get it back to normal.

How on earth do I get this to stop? haha
