Spot Removal and Layers
I've been using the spot removal tool and it works great, but I have a question in regards to where the data created by the spot removal tool resides.
I believe the "spot removals" are stored in the database but can they be also stored on a layer?
If I create a heal layer and make sure this layer is the current layer, is it possible to have all the "spot removals" placed on this heal layer? Should it be a different type of layer?
If you can place "spot removals" on a layer is this considered good practice?
I understand that I can globally turn on and off all the "spot removals" by pressing the option key as I click on the spot removal reset icon.
Thank you.

Garry,
The Spot Removal tool is not layer-activated. It applies to the background layer on the basis that, as a "spot" type intended to correct sensor dust and similar, the changes are likely to be applicable to multiple images.
The more recent development of the Layer concept and Heal or Clone variants IS something that is applicable to the Layer concept. Those spots may or may not be consistently positioned.
Which tool you choose to use is entirely up to you --- and your correction requirements.

SFA,
I thought it might be an operational concept since there could be other advantages I haven't considered.
But, I had to ask just in case it's possible.
Thank you for the explanation and the quick response.
Regards,
Garry
