Looks like they sold vaporware once again....

And as they did not communicate the minimum requirements before (MacOS15), i can't use it and have requested a refund.

v22 has an issue dealing with Leica monochrom DNG files.

Which begs the question:  How do add a color ICC profile to a monochrom ICC profile?

My testing of Pano Tool in the Beta didn't impress me much.  Way inferior to Lightroom (which strangely, in tricky cases, is itself better than Photoshop).

I also found out about min system requirement via Beta.  I have actually upgraded to Monterey (another unstable piece of lipstick-on-a-pig) pretty much to be able to run C1 22, but I'm thinking of downgrading and also asking for a refund...

    Michael,

As provided the Pano and Merge tools seem to be intended to create a pseudo-RAW (flat DNG) file that can then be treated as an original "RAW" file for editing purposes.

This seems to be somewhat different to other pano and merge applications that I have used which mostly seemed to be creating a ready-edited result in jpg or tiff formats rather than a "RAW" file, though might sometimes consider a tiff with some baked-in modifications something similar to a RAW file.

On that basis and at this stage of development, the need to include automatic infill may be something that is seen as a future consideration along with further "automated" integration with post-RAW creation editing.

As for ghost controls and similar - yes the idea of having controls over everything has some appeal. But I have applications with which I can do all of that and much more than I really feel I want. And probably not enough time to make best use of them.

Better, from my perspective, would be a tool that simply takes the files and creates the best possible result from them to generate a new RAW file. No intervention required from me.  Perfect results every time.

Current buzz concepts in the industry all seem to refer to AI and the need to analyze millions of examples to better deliver the optimum result. Where we are discussing things that are extremely dependent on personal preferences - like many forms of photography - some local AI on a per-user basis may also be a valid wish. But both of those will be some way down the development road if they are indeed useful and viable.

It's all a bit of a Catch 22 situation for the developers and the users alike.

In the apparent absence of a clear statement of the project objectives and what users can realistically expect, the space for interpretation and mis-matched short-term objectives is wide open.

It would be great if expectations, both ways, could be well managed and corralled towards a productive long-term result that benefits everyone.

why they think it is ok to deliver tools 10 years too late which are than less sophisticated than the completion is beyond my understanding.

I have not yet yet downloaded C1 22 but it is my understanding that on the Mac it is compatible with OS11.6 (Big Sur) through Monterey.

At least I downloaded C1P 22 and I am very happy with what I have seen..

The pano/stitching feature is just amazing.. I was always using PTGui and now what the C1P developers have done blows me away.... As per David Grover's statement, no more ping-pong with other pieces of software.. Same can be said for the HDR merge and Photomatix....

Took 43 RAW shots with my Canon 5DIII in Brenizer style and the stitching was perfect...Also compared some pano shots with my "Nodal Ninja" on tripod against free hand and both came out very nice..

So far, love what I have seen..

Excitedly I downloaded and installed v22 to try out the new HDR merge. It would save me an extra export step to Affinity Photo.

Huge disappointment to see the tool only has 2 options auto align and auto adjust. No deghosting, no tone mapping. It then outputs a linear DNG which basically is a TIFF file.

But the biggest issue is losing all the lens corrections that were applied to the original raws. Now I have a useless DNG file that I have to correct and I can't copy the profile to the DNG because on the original raw it was 'Manufacturer Profile' embedded.

Useless tool highlighted as a main feature... does C1 even use their own software?

Very disappointing. I regret that I bought version 22. I hope that throughout the year these tools will improve and include new ones.
