Preview Image Size mangement recommendation

I work between an iMac with a display width of 5120 and a Mac Book Pro with a display of 2880. Capture One's Preview Image Size on both machines is set to 5120. As I switch back and forth Capture One occasionally needs to regenerate all my previews. Can some one offer some suggestions as to why that would happen and how to prevent it?

    You say you are editing on two different machines so I assume that you have your images in an external drive. When C1 creates the previews it will store them on that drive. Did you check the folder/files that contain the previews to make sure that both users (or everyone) has read/write access?

    If they don’t then I’m guessing that C1 will recreate the previews as it can’t read the ones created on the other device,

    Yes, settings on the drive and folders are read  / write. Plus I think Apple may have prompted me to give Capture One access to my external drive. I have a feeling it might have to do with the drive itself. Next time it happens I'll see if Disk Utility reveals anything.
