Underwhelmed with C1 22 - Poor masking in HDR mode, bad pano stitching
Honestly I'm a kind of ticked off I didn't go with my gut feeling and take the 50% off offer on C1 21 in hindsight. Shooting architecture with tilt shift meant the panorama stitching and HDR merge were huge news. Gotta say both are extremely sub par.
When blending skies it leaves horrendous artifacts all over the sky just like Luminar did before I got rid of that. Clouds look blocky and areas aren't even blended in places.
The pano stitch is ok but again, patchy in areas and the blending mode is off in probably 75% of what I've pushed though it. Not a patch on PS's Photo Merge tool.
So unless I want to go out and swap my 5DSR for an R series to negate my CamRanger, there's really absolutely no upgrade whatsoever in this new version.
Am I missing something or not setting blend modes? The tutorial said just right click and "Merge as HDR" but as you can see below... rubbish.

Dear Benjamin Norton
I also have a lot of bad experiences with Capture One 22, I sincerely believe that they have made us pay for a new version and also use us as a beta tester. It makes me very angry because the previous versions, although they had some other flaws, are spectacularly good and work very well.
I hope you can update this version as soon as possible and improve a lot what they promise in this new version of Capture One.Good Luck !!!

It's pretty shoddy to be honest. I'd half expect it from a smaller company but when all the hype for this new version was about the stitch and HDR functionality, it sucks. Paying for the perpetual license and still having to deal with this stuff in photoshop is pretty laughable tbh. Fingers crossed they fix this soon but it seems like a bigger issue than a simple update. The entire functionality needs an upgrade.

Guys,
I share your opinion. The only good news is based on passed performance they will likely be fixing the problem soon. Some of these problems came out during Beta testing, so hopefully, they should already be thinking about the fixes.

Nobody made you do a bloody thing, Antonio - none of you get to blame Capture One because you were too lazy or careless to test version 22 before buying it.

Why do I have to be the one to test and check this garbage before buying it? I pay an annual fee to use this perpetually so it’s going to be taken regardless unless I cancel my sub, dl a trial, check it out, find it doesn’t work and then what? Move to another platform till they fix this before restarting my sub? Maybe you should lay off the coffee a little or get some fresh air and allow others to have their opinion on what is clearly a rushed product that doesn’t fit the bill.
It was marketed and sold with these features at the forefront and neither does the job. As someone giving my money to P1 for a product, I’m ABSOLUTELY entitled to pass blame.

instead of agreeing that there are shortcomings with the new tools their instructor mr.reiffer is now putting a spin on the problems in his lates video "....that automatic deghosting invents detail and you should be careful what you ask for " ! not only that this is not true he generously ignores the fact that deghosting can be done manually with some software.

mr.reiffer which is a guru for many hobbyists uses his popularity to mislead and to feed them a lie just to make his customer happy, this is disgusting in my view. also when someone so close to them comes up with such BS the only reason is see is that a working deghosting option will not be available soon. and of course he does not mention any fix of this issues with PS or AP because this would rise the question why not use the better tools from the beginning ;-)

the problem with c1 team is now is they are so focused wit onboarding lightroom users and making them happy which is good to a certain point when it starts to hurt the avid users that they should go back to the drawing board.
I agree with CSP, I always thought and get excited when companies partner with a professional photographer to improve the service they provide. but when they become BS oh my.

in the past real working photographers had been hired to make workshops, nowadays we have this strange hybrid type where it is not clear what their real business is, selling presets and workshops or photography . PR is a perfect example for this type, he is not a great photographer when you look at his portfolio, even his landscapes are boring and without a personal stile, they look like million similar shots on instagram but he brings followers so he is a asset for c1 but he benefits too.
