Camera was tethered, could trigger, but no files received by laptop.
Was shooting a time lapse of a drone show tethered to a laptop, I could trigger the camera but it stopped transferring files approx 20 shots in. Camera was still responding to the command+K command from laptop, so figured it was lag and kept shooting.
Noticed while I was shooting, camera info tab on CaptureOne window registered aperture as auto and then back to f4. Like flickering between 2 options.
After the drone show, camera did not stop shooting even though I stopped triggering the camera from laptop. In the end had to switch off camera. No files recorded in laptop or card.

Were you connected as a "Hot Folder" tether or a full computer control tether?
Does the 5DMk4 allow tethered shooting with a card in the camera?
There used to be a time when full tether was only possible if there was no card in a camera because the computer would always take control having seen the device (with card) ar external storage.
These days for some camera models that is not necessarily the case if the correct connectivity option is selected. However I did not think that Canon 5D models had the required options. I may be wrong in the case of the 5D4 but I do not have an easy way to check.

Hi there :)
Was running a session through CaptureOne Pro 20, and manually triggering the camera with keyboard shortcut.
Regarding the 5DMK4 allowing tethered shooting with card in camera, have not had an issue with card in the camera before. Usually keep the card in camera in case connection breaks and I can revert to shooting on card.
I actually managed to get like 20 shots into the laptop before the images stopped coming in. Did not try to reset the software when that happened as i attributed that to lag. Camera kept on triggering even after I stopped initiating image capture from laptop. My assumption was that if the laptop could detect camera and I could trigger the camera, the connection was ok and I was not seeing images due to lag.
During the rehearsal drone show was running the same setup and the same equipment and managed to capture what i needed with no issues.
Regarding the connectivity options, that was set to the defaults, and so far up to that moment had no issues with tethered shooting.
Now just looking to troubleshoot the issue to avoid this problem in the future.
