Unable to delete images from disk when deleting from catalog

Hello -  New user here. I have a folder of jpeg images on my desktop, which  I've imported into Capture One 21 Express for Sony  (build 14.4.1.16) using the "Add to Catalog" option. I'm trying to cull the images I've imported, so that when I delete an image from the catalog the original source image is also deleted from the folder on my desktop (ie, deleted from my hard drive).

However, when I select an image in the Capture One catalog and select Image>Delete from Disk, the image is removed from the catalog but remains in my desktop folder. Same thing  happens when I select the image and use the control+command+delete key, then choose the "Remove from Disk" option. The image is removed from the catalog but remains in my desktop folder.

What am I doing wrong? I'm on an M1 Mac Mini running OS 11.6  Thank you for any help!

    Did you approve write permission for the desktop folder to C1?

    Check it in system settings, privacy.
