Edit Black and White Scans
I've recently started shooting black and white film. I scan the negative with Epson Scan where I select the output file type as 48-bit color. Since it is an RGB image, I expected to be able to adjust the scans in Capture One. However, I cannot adjust the image at all in Capture One. All options are grayed out. I can open the image in Photoshop, and when I check the "mode", Photoshop shows it as an RGB image. Does anyone have an insights into what I can do to be able to edit black and white scans in Capture One?

Hello,
unfortunately, Capture One can't process grayscale images.
If you convert them to RGB with another application (Affinity, Photolab) you can open and edit them in Capture One.
I also had to ask first, because Capture One unfortunately does not give an error message and leaves you completely in the dark.

Yes, I am able to edit other TIFF images, but thanks for the suggestion.

I assume it is not the known problem that Capture One cannot do with greyscales.
I had the problem with some (mostly scanned) TIFFs that I could not and cannot edit them with Capture One. years ago. I opened a ticket to address this issue. The answer was: "If there is something wrong with TIF format (including header and so on) Capture One will not open it for edit. This is not a bug, it's a feature to avoid problems in the editing process." No word about how to find the "faults in format" or how to solve this problem.
And nothing has changed till now.
Not to be missunderstood: My way to edit those TIFFs in other applications and save them as... does not work in most of this cases. Even when I saved those files as PSD to "foult in format" was going an with PSD...
If someone finds a solution for this issue I would be happy too.
Kind regards

C1 cannot edit files over 500mb, 48bit RGB is fine (you should enable it in View>Global Filters sub-menu). Sometimes i use C1 for my 6x6 scans from Epson V750 Pro
