Ability to Combine Layer Masks
I would like the ability to combine masks from several layers to one layer. Currently copying a mask to another layer deletes any existing mask in the layer you're copying the mask into.
This would allow you to perform advanced masking and have the same adjustments applied to all masks on a selected layer.
Thank you.

As you can see from this post, one of the most powerful tools of Capture one is the masks and layers.
I would like to have an active (realtime) luminance mask that adjusts to changes in brightness without having to open and change or recalculate the mask.
There is already a request for my idea.

Good idea Tx. Do you have a link to that particular feature request post? I'll upvote it.
Also, in your opinion, are the layering and masking abilities in Capture One superior to Lightroom? I used Lightroom years ago and I'm just curious what people think about C1.
Thanks.

Capture one is much better here because:
1. I have all the tools I need on my 2nd screen.
2. with Capture One you can work much smoother because of the GPU acceleration (one of the most important), this also applies to calculations of masks etc.
3. i can use all the tools i want on levels and not just the basics.I have only today tried to port my active style to Lightroom but this is not possible.
The adjustments I would have to make for each additional image are so extensive that working in lightroom with this style would not make sense.

I support the request.
It makes a lot of sense to have consistent adjustments for a number of masks that are created in various ways (e.g., a combination of a linear gradient, a radial gradient, and some manual brushing).
Note that the proposal implies to let let layers represent (a set of) adjustments, rather than masks.
Arguably, currently layers represent masks, as a layer has one associated mask and it is not possible to combine separate layers (masks) with the same adjustments (in order to synchronise the adjustments for all respective masks).
It makes more sense, though, to let a layer represent (a set of) adjustments since it is already possible to have a lot of different adjustments for the same mask, but not possible to have different masks for the same (set of) adjustments.
