Exporting and Importing
I do most of my image editing on my main desktop computer. However, I sometimes need to print from a secondary desktop. Because of the vagaries associated with printing, it is sometimes necessary to make final edits on the second desktop. If I make such edits, I would like to include them back in the master catalog on desktop 1. I am wondering what the best workflow might be for this situation. The only two options that come to mind right now are:
- Keep catalog and all images on a portable drive and move it from computer to computer when editing. Concern here is for accidental damage/file corruption to a portable and/or speed issues associated with the use of a Thunderbolt drive.
- Keep catalog and images in the cloud. Concern here is for speed.
I'm wondering if I'm missing a better solution. In particular, as I will only be working on a subset of images on the second desktop, is there a way to export the images that were edited on desktop 1, make any edits on desktop 2, print, and then re-integrate everything back to the main desktop 1 catalog.
Thanks!

You can select a subset of images, create an album from the selection, export the album as a catalog (incl. originals), transfer it to desktop2, do your edits, transfer the catalog back to desktop1 and import the catalog.
If it is only single images from the same folder on desk1 then exporting indiviual images is maybe an easier variant.
If either is better than your two approaches I don't know. Concern here could be (a) it might be easier to make a mistake as you need to remember where your most actual adjustment is, or have a rock solid cleanup process on desktop2, and (b) you have to rely on C1 import/export catalogs always work correctly.
