Looking for portfolio workflow / file organisation advice
Hi all,
what is your portfolio workflow?
I work with C1 Sessions. Only the recent ones are on my computer or laptop or external drive.
I want to have one central folder that contains 3 other folders website, social media, portfolio.
That way I can easily access my images easily and have an overview of everything. This should make posting on instagram for example a lot easier.
I was thinking of gathering all my preferred images (edited exported Jpegs) in one central folder, and then use C1 to organize/categorize/tag/... and have it export to the 3 folders mentioned above.
But there might be better options or workflows out there?
I see a problem if I would use a catalog for this. As with a catalog I'd have to import the ones I added to the folder with my preferred images each time.

I'm not sure if I understood your workflow completely.
But from what I understood it seems more or less a similar approach.
Each project has a session folder.
RAW is kept in capture folder
Edited exports in the output folderThese get backed up to HDD.
For the central portfolio folder I would copy the best images (final edits in jpeg)
I would import these into C1 or maybe something else with (more) DAM capabilities.
From there it gets exported to 2 folders (Social Media / Website) that are accessible from anywhere.
Would something like Digikam be better suited than a C1 catalog or session for the portfolio folder?
The adjustments you talk about would not be a real issue I think. Since the files are already edited
Or am I misunderstanding something?0 -
I tried Digikam.
It has a bit of a learning curve but I managed it.Digikam is pretty good, but I found a few things that made me choose a C1 session for now.
Mainly not being easy to use on two computers, the same file / database.
I know a C1 session is not made for portfolio catalog.
But I don't want to import files every time, as I will forget this sometimes and it will become a mess.
I tried the hot folder thing in a catalog. But it had a failure on a few photo's. Not displaying any error, but just not showing up (seeing the amount of photo's in folder and in C1).
Still advice, tips and tricks are very welcome0
