Cannot edit HEIC file in Capture One - Bootcamp problem?

I have an iPhone 13, which can save still images in HEIF/HEIC format as a “better” alternative than JPGs. My problem is that I can load HEIC files into Capture One 21 (14.4.0), but I cannot edit them and instead get the following error message: “Proxy Creation Failed". Here’s the background.

 
I have a 2019 iMac running the most up-to-date versions of MacOS (Monterey 12.3.1) and Capture One 21 (v14.3.1.10, see note below). This iMac is set up to run Windows 10 in Bootcamp, but I use the Mac side exclusively for my photography. I use Airplay or Image Capture to transfer HEIC files from my iPhone to the Downloads folder on my iMac, then Import the HEIC files into Capture One 21. Once loaded I get the error message: “Proxy Creation Failed" (see below for screen capture) and in the background a blurred version of the photo that I cannot edit, and cannot get past the error message to do anything but delete it.
 
I also occasionally use an old 2012 MacBook Pro running MacOS Catalina v10.15.7 that is set up only as a Mac, i.e., no Bootcamp running Windows. It has Capture One 21 v14.4.0.135 installed. After Importing HEIC files in the same way I can edit the HEIC photos just fine.
 
I’m guessing there is some interaction between Bootcamp, Windows and/or Capture One that is preventing me from being able to edit HIEC files.
 
Questions: 
1. Why can I edit HEIC files on an old MacBook Pro but not on my iMac?  
2. Has anyone else experienced this problem? 
3. Has anyone found a solution or work-a-round to this problem?
4. Is this a bug that Capture One needs to address.
 
Note: Interestingly, the iMac version of Capture One 21 considers v14.3.1.10 to be the most up-to-date, while the MacBook Pro version sees v14.4.0 as the most current. Not sure why or whether it is relevant to the problem.
 
Also, I see a possible connection with this information in this article: 360016552258-HEIF-HEIC-file-format, but see no way that I could load these extensions in the Mac version of Capture One.

    I have since installed the HEIC extension for my Windows 10 partition. It had no effect on the problem.

    HEIC is simply not well (or just not) supported yet.

    I've been trying to get native HEIC support on my Windows 10 machine for 6 solid months (I've tried everything I can find, including the official Microsoft "solutions"), with zero success.

    The solution is simple enough, though. Don't use the format until support is ubiquitous.

    A MAC problem, not a Capture One question. Ask them.

    Problem resolved. I just had to update to C1 21 v14.4.1.16. C1 Support was very quick and helpful and gave me the update link. Bootcamp was not implicated in the problem.

    I mentioned above that C1 "Check for Updates" did not flag that the v14.3.1.10 I was running was out of date and that I could update to this more current version. C1 could improve on this.
