Batch Renaming Mac/Windows differences
Hi there,
working with both systems this week, i could not help but notice some slight differences for the renaming Tool between the two versions. the tool works, and I am not complaining. Just opening a ticket for future update. The time difference while using the function is alas noticeable.
I list here options that are available on Mac, and not on the same Win version(C122/15.2.1.9)
- Pop-Up window of the Batch Rename tool not scalable in width. annoying for long file names when using Find&Replace
- Windows does not have a "memory": opening the tool, the fields are always empty, instead of still holding the previous renaming set. Ready to type in or copy/paste 20 times in a row?
- edit: sometimes, the previous rename is still present in the Text&Token field, but as soon as one clicks on Find&Replace, the memory is rewritten. On Mac, closing the window or using one tool instead of the other does not clear the memory. So one can jump back and forth between long renaming or simple tweeks with Find&Replace.
- also, the tool opens automatically on the Text&Token tab, even if the last rename was a Find&Replace
- at time, Find&Replace is not case-sensitive( talking about adding underscore or caps, nothing fancy really)
- Tab key is badly supported. instead of jumping between editing fields, one is forced to use the mouse to navigate.
all together, clicking left and right or copy/pasting long filenames on windows, that costs the user between 5-15sec more per single Rename.
Hope to see that bettered in a few updates!
Cheers
PS: please do not comment by moaning about how C1 is undeserving to Win Users. The market among creatives is mostly Mac-based, so it is a pretty obvious strategy.
Still the best software there is.
